Alexander Technique

Alexander Technique Founded by F. Matthias Alexander during the early 1900s, the Alexander Technique methodically works to modify everyday habits. Through improval of ease and freedom of movement, balance, support and coordination, the Alexander Technique promotes adequate appropriation of effort and energy in individual activities; thus allowing more vitality for items on one's personal, daily agenda.

Reconditioning one's mind and body, the Alexander Technique is a means of achieving anatomical correctness and mental balance. The Alexander Technique empowers a person to free stress and find resolve in everyday issues.

Used by musicians, actors, dancers, athletes and public speakers, the Alexander Technique is an approach that identifies areas of a person's bodily movements that need adjusting. Daily activites such as walking, speaking, standing, sitting, bending and other anatomical functions can affect the way we feel and act. In using the Alexander Technique, one can learn to isolate the improper usages of his/her body. Through Alexander Technique application, body alignment if modified to correct these physical, behavioral problems.

Many individuals, who are otherwise healthy, may complain of musculoskeletal pain such as backaches and neck pain -- for example --through educating one's self through the Alexander Technique, an individual can obtain dynamic, anatomical balance. Moreover, a lifestyle change, the Alexander Technique is a form of body awareness and how one moves in daily regimens. If a person were to view him/herself in a mirror, it is the reflection of how we passively and subconsciously move that effects our body as a whole. The Alexander Technique addresses bodily movements to increase proper alignment of the spine and improves physical health.

A good example of this is that most d?butantes are encouraged to walk straightforward with a book placed upon her head; promoting an anatomically correct posture that not only repairs common aches and pains, but emits a sense of confidence and overall well-being in general.

Mr. Alexander had the proper notion to find a simpler method of educating the public through accurate modes of physical integrity and health. His "Alexander Technique" has given and continues to give thousands of men, women and children the ability to function in daily life with total ease and freedom from unnecessary strain.
